The Three Reasons Everyone is Moving to Dallas Fort Worth, Texas
It's no secret that people are flocking to Texas. According to the 2021 Texas Relocation Report, Texas welcomed 537,000 -582,000 new residents in 2019. There are tons of reasons to move to Texas, but they boil down to three key benefits.
Business & Employment Opportunities
1. Low Unemployment & A Great Economy
Texas is the 9th largest economy in the world, the 2nd largest in America, and is home to over 50 Fortune 500 Companies. Jobs are plentiful here, some of the biggest employers in DFW include BNSF Railways, Exxon Mobile, American Airlines, Pier 1 Imports and AT & T. Dallas Fort Worth also maintains one of the lowest unemployment rates in the USA.
2. Growing Population Means Business Opportunity
Dallas Fort Worth is arguably the number one best state to start or grow a business, large or small. WalletHub’s list of the best places to start a business in 2019 puts Texas at #1. Several Texan cities rank highest on the list of fastest growing cities in the USA over the last decade, especially suburbs like Frisco and Mckinney. Texas is the second most populous state, coming in only after California. More people equals more potential customers, more job opportunities, and a great pool of talent for employers.
3. Low Cost of Doing Business
No corporate and no personal state income tax, lower cost of land ownership and rent, and lower costs of energy and transportation mean lower costs of doing business for entrepreneurs and a lower cost of living for employees.
High Quality of Life
1. Affordable Housing Prices and Great Real Estate Market
2. Beautiful, Clean, Green Landscapes
Another perk about Fort Worth is that you have all the advantages of a big city with great amenities and a booming economy, while also having a relaxing country vibe. You’re bound to see a beautifully green pasture of grazing cows and horses almost anywhere you drive. For me, this has become my favorite thing about living here.
3. Great School Boards
Dallas Fort Worth school districts took 7 of the top 10 spots in the 2020 ranking of best school boards in the state of Texas. One thing to note is that the better the school district, the higher the housing costs. And in the district of Carroll Independent, one of the highest ranking districts year after year, housing prices are three times the state median. I found an article which compares school districts and housing prices in DFW so you can find the best bang for your buck.
Freedom
“Texas is where Freedom Lives”. If you value freedom, then Texas is the place for you. Due to the great economy and low cost of living and property ownership, Texans have the freedom to have their own land, travel, and have more disposable income for the extra things in life. If gun rights are your thing, Texas is one of the most friendly states to your second amendment.
If freedom of speech, assembly, and medical freedom is your thing, then again, Texas is for you. For a Canadian Immigrant, this means everything considering that when I left in January 2021, it was a criminal act to visit your own parents, and police could stop you in the street to question your reason for leaving the home. Wherever you stand on the political spectrum, there is no denying that Texas is one of the best states where you can own land, make a living, raise a family, and be yourself with minimal butting in from the government.
